Celtic Experience

The verse from Jeremiah promises ‘Rest for our souls’. A favourite version of Matthew 11 v29-30 is, “Are you tired? Come to me. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me, watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” [The Message]

Is it me, or in these days of business models, core competencies and critical pathways, as we continue to drill down and up skill, all the time being proactive whilst remaining on the cutting edge, ensuring our ecosystems and functionalities are inline with management expectations, and more and more training on time management. Is it becoming more and more difficult to find the elusive ‘rest’?

Here is your opportunity! A time set aside to experience the ‘Celtic way’ and how some of those ‘ancient paths’ still lead to an encounter with God that brings true rest to our souls.

Bangor, Co. Down has a unique spiritual history. St. Patrick called it ‘the valley of angels’ and St. Comgall began a continuous worship system that lasted for over 150 years.

Come find rest for your soul:
“To say that I had come to the mountains, alone, to be with God, would sound as though I’d come of my own accord, making the journey seem noble, austere, gallant. But that would not be honest. I came because I was summoned. Exhausted from months of battle and hard labour, I needed to get away, knew that I needed to get away, yet somehow could not bring myself to do it. You know how it is – you find yourself on the treadmill, hating it, but accustomed, even addicted to it, and getting off seems like an inconvenience, even if it will save your life. Thank God, something deeper in me was being called – a longing that is hard to describe, a compelling ache for Beauty. That is how God drew me.”
John Eldridge – Fathered by God, (published by Thomas Nelson 2009)
